what are babyshowers for the baby but is it wrong to think that the mother should get something that meets a few of them.
I always thought a baby shower is to welcome the baby and congratulate the mom in the making. I do not think it is selfish at all. I'm pink for my niece when she was pregnant and my sister, we got her some pajamas.

I want to have two baby showers one before the baby is born and one after. The first one to tell everyone im pregnant and the second one for everyone to meet the baby. has anyone every done that? and what was your expierience
The only one that is a "shower" is the party before the baby is born. The latter one is a "meet the baby" party.
If the intent of the shower is to get gifts, please specify "no gifts" with the second party,

I’ve had no problem skipping showers of people I’m not super close to, but for my close friends, I’d like to go. Any tips on sucking it up. I’m worried I will get there and cry which is obviously not acceptable but would like to support my friends. Almost all my friends are currently pregnant (seriously, 12 pregnant friends and 5 who just had babies). So it’s baby shower season…but it’s so hard to be around pregnant women and birthing war stories and tiny little clothes. On the flip side, DH said, “If you keep skipping people’s showers you can’t expect anyone to show up at yours or be happy when you get pregnant. Answer: sorry I don’t go to showers because of my 6 year TTC struggle. But, I send a really nice gift to those I get a shower invite. Some of you know my DH and I have been TTC for 2 years....

I CANNOT bring myself to throw myself a shower, but I would like to get everyone together before the baby and have some sort of baby/new family addition celebration, especially for his mom and DD, but NOT a shower – GIFTS NOT REQUESTED/EXPECTED. My friends here, one of his SILs and his DD keeps asking when the baby shower will be. His DD obviously can’t host. I would be fine with not having a get together here, but they all just keep asking when, when, when. As for my close friends that I would invite, two have “house space” but neither has the means and they do not know each other. the sweetest woman on the planet, but not, uh, “all there”. SO is not super close to his family (getting better). My sisters/SIL are throwing me a shower in early March. Just family, as I live 6 hrs from all of them. his mom is, how do I say this politely…. That’s the easy, wonderful part....
